Choosing the Ground Beef
Ground beef with a little fat provides classic cheeseburger flavor and stays
juicy while cooking.
An 80/20 blend is a popular choice, although leaner ground beef can also work.
If using a higher-fat blend, drain excess grease after browning so the tortillas do not become soggy.
1. Cook the Ground Beef
Place a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the ground beef and break it into small crumbles using a wooden spoon or spatula.
Cook until the beef is browned and no pink remains.
Drain excess fat carefully.
Season with salt and black pepper.
If desired, stir ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, or finely diced onion into the beef for extra cheeseburger flavor.
2. Prepare the Fresh Toppings
While the beef cooks, shred the lettuce, dice the tomato, and chop the pickles.
Keep the vegetables relatively dry, especially the tomatoes and pickles.
Too much moisture can soften the tortilla quickly.
3. Warm the Tortillas
Warm each tortilla briefly in a dry skillet
or microwave until soft and flexible.
Warm tortillas are much easier to fold and are less likely to crack while rolling.
The source recipe specifically recommends briefly warming the tortillas before filling to make them more pliable.
4. Assemble the Cheeseburger Wraps
Lay one tortilla flat on a clean work surface.
Add a portion of lettuce, followed by the hot ground beef.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the beef so the heat begins melting the cheese.
Add diced tomato and chopped pickles.
Finish with ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or your favorite burger sauce.
Avoid overfilling the tortilla. Leaving enough empty space around the edges makes rolling much easier.
5. Roll the Wrap
Fold the left and right sides of the tortilla inward.
Bring the bottom edge up over the filling.
Roll tightly toward the top while gently tucking the ingredients inside.
If packing the wraps for lunch, wrap them in parchment paper
