Burnt-on food residue at the bottom of a pot can be a real headache. Before reaching for a steel wool pad, try using water, baking soda, and a little dish soap.

What you will need
500 ml water

1–2 tablespoons baking soda

1 teaspoon dish soap

A wooden spoon

A soft sponge

Instructions
First, let the burnt pot cool down. Then, remove any loose food residue using the wooden spoon.
Pour water into the pot, ensuring the burnt area is covered.
Add the baking soda and dish soap. Briefly stir the mixture.
Place the pot on the stove and slowly heat the mixture for about 10 minutes. It does not need to boil vigorously.
Turn off the stove and let the pot cool for a few minutes.
Loosen the softened residue with the wooden spoon and wash the pot using a soft sponge.

Tip
Do not use metal scouring pads or sharp tools on non-stick pots. For aluminum cookware, check the manufacturer’s recommendations first, as baking soda can alter the surface.

Never combine this method with bleach or other harsh cleaning agents.
